Media Criticism

Jonatahn Greenblat

Anti-Defamation League CEO Jonathan Greenblatt has repeatedly criticized what he characterizes as antisemitic messaging from Piker. On May 1, 2025 Greenblatt called out a brazen puff piece on Piker.

Greenblatt has raised these concerns on national television on numerous occasions, including multiple appearances on CNN.

Fox News Discussed Piker's Influence Among Young Democrats

Fox & Friends Weekend aired a segment examining Hasan Piker's growing influence among young progressive voters and the controversy surrounding his appearance at the 2026 College Democrats of America convention. The segment featured Jack Perenick, president of the Young Democrats of Massachusetts, who criticized the decision to platform Piker while arguing that Democrats still needed to engage with disaffected voters who had been attracted to anti-establishment figures.

During the interview, Perenick called Piker "reprehensible" and argued that his popularity reflected a wider loss of confidence in both political parties and in the ability of the American political system to produce meaningful change. He compared Piker's rhetoric to that of radical figures on the political right and suggested that calls for revolutionary change appealed to people who believed conventional politics had failed them. Despite his criticism of Piker, Perenick maintained that Democrats needed to speak directly to his audience rather than dismiss those voters entirely.

Discussing Piker's convention appearance, Perenick claimed that attendees had streamed out during the speech and that four state delegations had walked out in their entirety. He argued that the appearance ultimately had done more to unite Democrats against what he characterized as Piker's hateful rhetoric than to increase Piker's political influence. The Fox hosts framed the discussion as part of a broader dispute over whether Democratic candidates and organizations were justified in associating with Piker in an effort to reach younger voters.
